Lemi Ghariokwu’s ‘Arts Own Kind’

Lemi Ghariokwu the king of covers as he is fondly called by many both in Nigeria and internationally begins his Art exhibition in Lagos Nigeria at the Didi Museum . While opening the exhibition on Saturday May 26th 2013 , the curator Ugoma Adegoke while speaking with newsfactonline says the exhibition will remain open from Monday 27 May 2013 to Thursday 30 May 2013.
Ugoma says the exhibition is Tagged : ART’S OWN KIND, Which  showcases dynamic aspects of the art of Lemi Ghariokwu,. Lemi attained legendary status for the deep insight in vivid depiction of the music and ldeology of Fela Anikulapo Kuti on 26 iconic album covers for the afrobeat legend’s career.
Lemi Ghariokwu a self taught graphic fine artist , cover designer and illustrator from Nigeria , west Africa who as carved a niche for himself in the field of album cover designing and illustration.
The Man behind the Late  Afro beat Master Fela Anikulapo kuti Album covers for more than three decades says the late Afro Beat King gave him the confidence to stand tall at what he does. Lemi in His words says “Fela thought me how to be confident, how to be able to express myself without apologies, I learnt to be bold with my work but our character differ. I have all those traits of a confident person, somebody who is sure footed and that is what I have done with my career. My career has lasted forty years now”.

 We see Lemi in a whole new light that is all his own, revealing the depth of his talent and the innovative spirit that makes him a global phenomenon and creative force.
