IMMIGRATION Recriutment: This is unacceptable!

BY GEORGE ONMONYA DANIEL

The pictures of the crowd that of people in the National Stadium, Abuja, today for the immigration recruitment exercise is scary. Over 50 thousand people in Abuja alone for four thousand jobs all over the nation. Thousands also in Kaduna Stadium, thousands in Lokoja and all over the nation. There was stampede in Abuja stadium and report says ten people died and more than fifteen fainted. What is wrong with this country? So Nigeria cannot organize simple recruitment exercise? So people must die in every exercise? Few years back the same thing happened all over Nigeria where many youths died of exhausion after they were forced to run for kilometers. Today Abuja stadium, sixty thousand capacity, was filled up to the brime for four thousand immigration job nation wide. As ridiculous as this whole scenario looks, this is Nigeria.

I learned that the money to pay the people they are about to recruit is not even in the 2014 budget. This is all a big Public Relations stunt for the PDP campaign. The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, didn’t even consult with Immigration bosses on this employment thing. It is all politicians trying to cash in on the vulnerabilty of the people. This is simply unacceptable.

As I am writing this I just called friends who are part of this whole interview at Abuja stadium and they said they are still waiting for the examination. They confirmed that they saw these dead bodies after the stampede. The whole thing they say is crazy.

I honestly think the Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, should be asked to resign. The government should pay huge compensations to the families of those that died due to this phoney and 419 employment bullshit. This country is a bizzare. What is happening here can be simply hopeless. How can a country move forward with all this disorganisation? I honestly don’t know, but what I know is that this administration isn’t capable of changing these things and those in the opposition don’t see it as a problem enough to scream about it. What a country!
