Rivers State Scholarship Students Stranded and Abandoned in the United Kingdom by the State Government

NEWISSUES, Abuja

Rivers State students studying on scholarship in the United Kingdom have been abandoned by Governor Rotimi’s Amaechi’s administration and a lot of them have been chased out of school. These are Degree and Master Degree students on scholarship. Prior to this current case these students have severally complained of the Rivers State scholarship board not paying their fees on time and they have had to be chased by these UK universities. This has affected their studies. Report from the UK says most of these students are doing very well in their schools with high grades.

NEWISSUES wrote to the the Director, River State Sholarship Board, Secretary, River State Scholarship Board and the the Liason Officer River State Scholarship Board, UK: –

 

“We have received reports on the incessant delays in payments of Rivers State Overseas students scholarship which we learned the Rivers State Scholarship Board attributed to the conflict btw President Jonathan and Gov. The Liason Officer, UK, called to debunk report that the issue has anything to do with the politics between Rotimi Amaechi and Goodluck Jonathan. However the Secretary, Rivers State Scholarship Board called and said he will talk to spokesperson to the governor before reaching NEWISSUES. He hasn’t called since then.

The story circulating which some Rivers State students confirmed is that Rotimi Amaechi is starving the students of funds because of the problems between him and President Goodluck Jonathan in order to play politics and promote his new party the APC to the detriment of the PDP.
