Security agencies have been alerted of an alleged plan by Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka and Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola to mobilise youths to cause pandemonium in Osun State.
The state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which made the allegation in a statement by its publicity secretary, Hon Bola Ajao, claimed that the duo have concluded plans to mobilise the youths and kit them in black vests with the inscription “WHO KILLED THE MAN?”
PDP claimed that the youths are billed to embark on a candle-light procession with the aim of whipping up sentiments to cause pandemonium in the state.
“This idea is sheer madness. It will cause pandemonium and chaos. It is a wild goose chase. It is an ill wind that will blow no one any good. Osun State should not be made to become a theatre of the absurd”.
In a swift reaction, the director of publicity and strategy of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Kunle Oyatomi described the allegation as the figment of the imagination of the party, adding that PDP is a victim of its own conscience.
Oyatomi noted that even if anybody is planning a vigil to commemorate the vicious killing of a prominent Nigerian, it ought not to bother the PDP, adding “Is it that they are admitting that PDP is a nest of killers as Prof Wole Soyinka described the party?”
