In bid to re-organize the SSS, Former spokesperson for the Department of State Security, Marilyn Ogar, has been compulsorily retired from the agency effective from yesterday, a source told NEWISSUES. Ms. Ogar was told to leave the force yesterday via a retirement letter dispatched to her and several others by the new leadership of the agency. She is being forced out of the agency 7 years before she is due for retirement.
Several high profile officers of the DSS have been sent packing by the new director of the agency, Musa Daura.
Early this year Ms. Ogar was also accused of receiving bribes from the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) to supply lorryloads of Dual Purpose Kerosene shortly before gubernatorial elections in Osun state
Ms. Ogar was removed and also demoted as the spokesperson in July shortly after President Muhammad Buhari appointed Mr. Daura to head the organization.
Many Nigerians would see it as revenge by the new President Muhammadu Buhari administration who is having problems with some of the notable SSS officials during the Goodluck Jonathan’s administration. Ms. Ogar made so many enemies as spokesperson for the SSS as she was the one in the limelight almost always in those turbulent days.
The former SSS boss, Sambo, is also being prosecuted for possessing fired arms illegally. Few days after President Buhari took over SSS storm his house with search warrant. Sambo and Ms. Ogar are seen as the victims of witch-hunt by many.
