Lagos Ports May Shut Down Due To Congestion After Tanker Drivers Strike

NEWISSUES, Abuja

The whole Ports in Lagos State may shut down as tanker drivers are refusing to move at night after Lagos State government announced over a week ago that heavy vehicles can now only move at night because of traffic jams and accident.

Tanker drivers are saying they cannot move at night because of lack of security on the road at night. This gridlock has resulted to containers not being evacuated from the ports to their destinations. All the ports are so filled now that port workers would have to close the port if there is no compromise between the Lagos State government and the tanker drivers.

container 2NEWISSUES Correspondent reported that Operations paralyzed at the ports in Lagos for a week now due to the strike embarked upon by truck drivers protesting the movement order by Lagos state government.Containers are not going in and out of the terminals,where will incoming vessels drop their cargo and the effect on the economy.

Some medical personnel took advantage and came around with speakers to carry out enlightenment at the port gate.

This is gridlock has caused so much distress on an already stress economy.
