The Senate President Bukola Saraki has finally arrived the Code of Conduct to answer charges of alleged corruption and false declaration of assets.
Saraki had on two occasions failed to honour the invitations of the tribunal, compelling Danladi Umar, Chairman of the Tribunal, to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.
In a bid to stop his trial, he had gone to the federal high court to procure an interim injunction, but the court refused to grant his request.
He had also filed a notice of appeal to the appeal court to stop his arrest.
The Tribunal bars live coverage of the proceedings. Dr. Saraki was accompanied by his deputy Ike Ekwerenmadu and others senators.
Most Nigerians are disappointed as they expect the watch the unfolding drama live on television. Nigerians are divided over the trial as some opine that the Senate President is being witch hunted because of his ambition which saw him became Senate President instead of the man the All Progressive Congress bigwigs anointed. Others who are supporting this administration are saying he that if he did nothing wrong he should go and face the court as the issue is not about being singled out or not but legal matters.
