Ahead of Ministerial screening by the Senate, a member of the APC in the House of Representatives, Hon Mark Gbillah from the Tiv speaking majority ethnic group in Benue state has bemoaned the nomination of Chief Audu Ogbe from the Idoma minority speaking part of Benue state as ministerial nominee.
According to Honorable Gbillah, given the major contribution of the Tiv majority population and the leader of the party in Benue state, Senator George Akume, a Tiv son or daughter ought to have been nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari as Minister instead of Chief Audu Ogbe, from the Idoma ethnic minority.
Hon. Mark Gbillah also observed that during the last dispensation, the Idoma minority also held the position of substantive Minister throughout the eight years Senator David Mark was Senate President, while the position of Minister of State was reserved for the Tiv majority.
He vehemently condemned this act of marginalization of the Tiv majority at the Federal cabinet by the Idoma minority.
