TAKE A BOW AND GO!, By Ikechukwu Obi

What really is the purpose of the Senate screening if it’s going to be made a circus show of the inane? The quality and depth of some of the questions makes one wonder if everything wasn’t pre-arranged for the benefit of us hapless watchers of the shenanigans.

With the ‘take a bow and go’, I think the whole exercise is a needless waste of time. Nominees should have been subjected to more intense indepth questioning either about their past activities or for their future intentions in office.

Again, one might have expected an innovation in the screening e.g the nominees could have been made to answer a few live questions streaming from live audiences across social media platforms.

Anyway sha, like majority of Nigerians, I’m a victim of the Over-Expectancy Syndrome. This illness was inflicted on us through the campaigns and propaganda of APC. They made us expect elephants while what we’re seeing now is just a little mouse. I think I’m fully recovered though; now I can see the full, ugly reality.

When Amaechi, Fashola, Lai etc are confirmed, it will not be out of place to say this govt is a continuation of the old order where questionable characters are rewarded with public office for helping the President win elections. This is the plain, ugly, undeniable reality.

Well, thank God for a few bright lights like Udoma Udo Udoma, Amina Ibrahim and Ibe Kachikwu, maybe they’ll be like Akinwumi Adesina, Arunma Oteh etc. Every govt has them. Where then is the change if we’ve merely changed the characters in the same movie with the same plot? Will the end result be different?

Me, I’m taking a ringside seat and watching from my Siddon Look Perch.
