The most hated politician not just in Imo State but all over Igbo land is Rochas Okorocha. From Owerri to Lagos, Port Harcourt to Kano, majority of Igbos not only hate Okorocha but despise him. In fact a lady selling drinks where I stop to buy water somewhere in Lagos told me that Rochas Okorocha is not even real Igbo as his father is from the North, Kaduna or Plateau or so. If you want to infuriate most of my Igbo brothers and sisters, just tell them a Rochas would be the best candidate for 2019 if Buhari steps down.
Rochas Okorocha started losing it among the Igbos in his home state, Imo, where many accused him of not performing despite all the noise he was making in the media. Nowadays he has calm down with the whole media drama after he narrowly won the election for a second term in Imo State. But most of the reason why he is so hated in Igbo land may be his association with All Progressive Congress (APC) against the candidate the Igbos favoured in the past election.
From the market woman to the banker and Igbos in the Diaspora, Rochas Okorocha’s name is not one that inspire love but disdain and hate. He is seen as a betrayer. Many people would give you different reason why they think Rochas Okorocha has become very unpopular among his people but the one you cannot dispute is that he under-performed in Imo State and people are not happy with him.
