Why Is Buhari Ignoring Halliburton?, By George Onmonya Daniel

Why is President Muhammadu Buhari and his supporters ignoring one of the biggest bribery scandal in the history of Nigeria that involves Nigerian government officials selling Nigeria to foreign companies? It is quite obvious that some of people involved helped put President Buhari inside Aso Rock villa and some of these big names are former president and his deputy, Olusegun Obasanjo and Atiku Abubakar. That’s is simply the reason why the EFCC has not been ordered to look into Halliburton, yes, ordered. The EFCC after Nuhu Ribadu has become an institution that is controlled by the presidency. So many Nigerians would say even Nuhu Ribadu was remote controlled by Olusegun Obasanjo, but then that’s another story.

President Muhammadu Buhari made so much noise about fighting corruption that when he won the election panic gripped all Nigerian politicians, even those in his party, but more than six months after, I wonder why the war on corruption is ignoring high profile cases like Halliburton and Siemens with all the evidence?

The Sambo Dasuki case where the former National Security Agency boss is being accused of pocketing billions meant for purchase of arms for the Nigerian army and other security agents is commendable. We urge this administration to get to the bottom of it all and prosecute anyone who is responsible and I don’t believe in the excuses of witch hunting some people make for Sambo Dasuki and his friends. They should stand trial and anyone found guilty should be sent to Kuje or Kirikiri. However, Halliburton and Siemens and other cases where Nigerian government officials or those in power are alleged to have collected bribe to sell out this country is as serious as the case of Sambo Dasuki and his friends.

We urge Nigerians, on social media and everywhere, to tell President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate Halliburton and Siemens. This administration will be a laughing stock if Buhari did not man-up and bring up the Halliburton case.
