The Federal High Court in Abuja has turned down Nnamdi Kanu’s bail request. The court affirmed that the leader of Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOD) must remain in prison. He has been in prison since October for treasonable offense.
He had been granted bail twice earlier but the government refused to let him go.The government accuses him of running an underground radio that spreads hate messages in a push for the creation of independent state of Biafra.
Mr. Nnamdi Kanu is quite popular in the Eastern part of Nigeria and in the oil rich South-South where there have been raging demonstrations and agitation for a Biafran State.
