*Iheanacho Must Maintain Form To Get Eagles Invitation – Oliseh
Embattled Super Eagles coach, Sunday Ogorchukwu Oliseh has tasked Manchester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho to maintain scoring form in England for him to get invitation to play for Nigeria in the AFCON 2017 qualifier against Egypt.
In a chat with Brila FM on Friday, Oliseh said the teenage striker is in his plans for the crucial double-header AFCON qualifier against the Pharaohs of Egypt, but must continue in his goal scoring prowess for the Citizens.
“I have not sent out my list for the AFCON 2017 qualifier against Egypt. If Kelechi keeps scoring he’ll play,” Oliseh assured.
Speaking further, Oliseh opened up on wide range of issues affecting the national team, and promised that only committed players would be chosen to don the colours of Nigeria
“Mikel is more effective when he plays a more central midfield role.So we should ask how they want to play in our team.” Enyeama is retired & we intend to use only players available to us. We want to play a friendly but no confirmation yet.
“The commitment of players at the CHAN 2016 was incredible and there are seven or eight who are good enough for the Super Eagles. We want to resume camping two weeks before, but I will migrate players from the home based team. Its been relatively quite. I’ve not been able to do much because of financial concerns. Hopefully things will change.”
Asked to comment on the present state of his health with the task ahead in the national team, “I have eventually played tennis after a long while, I feel great and can announce that I am well again,” Oliseh concluded.
