14 years old Halita Dominic Jato has been alegedly kidbnapped, converted to Islam and re-named Hafsat by Ismail Mohammed and Mallam, Adamu Kasarawa of Gidan Igwai area within sokoto state metropolis, the father confirmed.
The father of the kidnapped girl, Mr Dominic Jato decried that, all efforts to secure her safe release proved abortive as the relevant authorities seems not to have taken any result oriented action.
According to Mr Dominic Jato, he has lodged complaint earlier at both the Divjsional level, Sokoto State Police Command and at the office of the AIG Zone 10 yet he couldn’t get his daughter back as promised.
Mr Jato, who wondered why abductors of his daughters were still moving about freely in sokoto without facing the full wrath of the law, asked if some persons are above the law in Nigeria.
In his complaint letter submitted to office of the AIG Zone 10, Mr Jato said, his daughter was kidnapped when she was 14 years and 8 days old.
The letter read in part, “I am writing this letter in order to complain against Ismail Mohammed and Mallam Adamu Kasarawa for kidnapping my daughter, named Halita Dominic Jato. She was born on 1st, July 1999 and was kidnapped and abducted on the 9th, July 2014.
“I conducted a research for her on that fateful day among her friends, neighbours and the entire neighbourhood and I found out that she was kidnapped and abducted by Ismail Mohammed in Gidan Igwai area of sokoto.
“I reported the case to the Police Divisional Head Quarters, Kwanni and the said Ismail Mohammed was invited by the Police for questioning. He confessed that the girl Halita Dominic Jato was kidnapped and abducted by him.
“He confessed that, he has moved the girl to the house of Mallam Adamu Kasarawa to be converted to Islam. And he was mandated to bring the girl back to the Police Stations to be handed over to me but up till now, the girl has not been handed Oberlin to me nor the Police”
Dominic Jato lamented that, he wrote similar letter to Sokoto State Commissioner of Police and the two accursed persons where invited for questioning.
“I was asked again to wait for the outcome of the investigation but up till now, no clear clue of what the Police have done tentatively concerning the case”
When asked why he kept mute since then, Dominic Jato simply, said, he is a law abiding citizen that believes in due process, which explains why he started from Police Division, to Command and to AIG.
“Secondly, there was threat to my , life and that of my entire family” Jato noted.
When contacted, Sokoto State Police spokesperson, DSP Al-mustpaha Sani said there is more to the case than what was been reported by the father.
He however promised to give further details on the matter
