Senator representing Niger-east Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator David Umaru has decried the non-implementation of the 2014 Constitutional Conference recommendation.
The legislator who is also the chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary and Human Rights, described the non-implementation as unfortunate and regrettable.
Speaking exclusively to LEADERSHIP Sunday at the National Assembly Abuja yesterday, Umaru said it is regrettable that the Jonathan administration could not implement the reports of the Constitutional Conference after the huge resources it expended on the project.
“It is unfortunate that after the money that was spent on the project, the former President Goodluck Jonathan did not sign and implement the report, unfortunately the current government did not implement the report. The relevant recommendation has to be looked into and implemented,” he said.
The lawmaker, who expressed concern over the spate of constitutional amendment without tangible results, said it was important to look at the relevant provisions and put it in place.
