NEWISSUES, Abuja

image

Drugs and medical equipments worth millions of naira have been left in the office of the Abuja Munincipal Area Council (AMAC) expiring and rotting by government officials. NEWISSUES learned that the drugs were left there since last three to four years. Most of the drugs and equipments were Made in the USA.

Sources informed NEWISSUES that the drugs and hospital equipments were donated by  USaid for primary healthcare to the Abuja Municipal Area Council, but since the drugs and medical equipments were offloaded in AMAC’s office in Apo, it was completely abandoned and most of them are now expired or expiring. There are hospital bed and mattresses all over the place and expensive drugs scattered all over.

NEWISSUES could only get into one of the offices. Load of drugs were also in other offices and they have been packed there for years.

It is shocking to see such waste in a country where healthcare is not affordable by majority of its citizens.
