The Nigerian secret police, the DSS, yesterday night tried to arrest Pastor Suleiman in Ekiti State, but Governor Ayodele Fayose who heard the information went to the rescue of the pastor. The DSS launched at attack on his hotel room and attempted to break the room’s door but were frightened by the crowd of people who were around before the Governor came to take the pastor away.
Pastor Suleiman had few days ago told his congregation that he heard Fulani herdsmen were planning to come and assasinate him in his church premises and urge them to kill and chop off the head of any Fulani man they see around the premises.
Fulani herdsmen have attacked and killed hundreds of people in Southern Kaduna and the issue has taken a very different dimension with Christian leaders in the north calling it a form of Jihad and part of the conspiracy to kill Christians. They have accused of President of Nigeria who happens to be a Fulani man, of not showing much interest, so also many people across the nation have expressed the same sentiment. On the part of the president he said he believed the governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, would take care of business, however many Christians, including Pastor Suleiman are blaming Governor Nasir El-Rufai as being part of the problem.
Pastor Suleiman told a journalist at Governor Fayose’s residence that if he spends one day at DSS custody it would do an irreparable damage to the Nigerian government for at least one year as he has churches in 47 countries.
