In the absence of values it would be impossible to make choices and decisions. The inability to make decisions is probably a fatal problem. Therefore, I would say that a life without values, which is to say a life absent of morality and the ability to make decisions, would be short.
We have to build a better man before we can build a better society. All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good people do nothing. Our purpose is not to make a living but a life–a worthy, well-rounded, useful life. Morality is not a subject; it is a life put to the test in dozens of moments. But here is the rub. It is true that corruption is a global
phenomenon, but the degree of corruption is not the same, (and of whatever degree it might be is not acceptable and it should not be) worse of all is the corruption of moral values.
When we begin to get so at ease, comfortable with the wrong, without remorse and without Panic in our conscience, then the rust of corruption has eroded us deeply and the smelly grip of that ill-vice has cushioned it self in our hearts. What a pity! So Pathetic! At the root of all forms of corruption is a certain self-centered materialism, a belief that the acquisition of power or money outweighs all other virtues. All religions teach that the opposite is true..
In the political realm, it undermines democratic processes and good governance. It erodes the institutional capacity of government as procedures are disregarded, resources are siphoned off, and officials are hired or promoted without regard to performance. At all levels, it seriosly undermines key values like trust and tolerance, hardwork and due Process.
The worse of them all are those that have gotten so relaxed and fine with the monster called Corruption that are even ready to flex their muscles, sharpen their Pens and refill their ink in defence of corruption. (Now am not talking about selective justice and vengeance, I mean serios business).
Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with
important matters. I cannot and will not cut my conscience to fit this year’s fashions. Living with integrity means: Not settling for less than what you know you deserve in your relationship with your God and your conscience.. Speaking your truth, even though it might create conflict or tension. Behaving in ways that are in harmony with your personal values. Making choices based on what you believe, and not what others believe. I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence..
The greatest of all Corruption, is the loss of our Morality, Core values, Ethics of sanctity, the replacement of God with Mammon in our Power of choices, the loss of Patience to haste, and the gruesome murder of contentment in our graph of value…Godliness with Contentment is a great gain..Examine Yourself, as I have long been examining mine..
