Journalist Arrested By Order of Gov. Nasir El-Rufai Released On Bail

NEWISSUES, Abuja

According to the Editorial Director of LEADERSHIP, Catherine Hembadoon Agbo, Mr Midat Joseph Kakuri, the leadership correspondent in Kaduna was released on bail earlier today after he was taken into custody by the police over his criticism of Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s administration over the killings in Southern Kaduna by Fulani herdsmen on Whatsapp group.

There has has been a massive social media  campaign to release him since he was arrested. One of his colleague wrote this after his release.

“We thank you all for the campaign you put up while efforts to secure his release were ongoing. Your voices were heard, the police were inundated. He has been charged to court, got bail, met the conditions and is at home with his family now.”

Governor Nasir El-Rufai has been desperate to silence any voice of protest from Southern Kaduna over the incessant and persistent ethnic cleansing by Fulani herdsmen in the area. Others who were arrested over similar issue were Dr. John Danfulani and Audu Maikori of Chocolate City.
