Dr. Miletus Joseph, a lecturer in Department of Geology of the University of Maiduguri who was part of the oil prospecting team was reported killed in the Boko Haram ambush attack on Tuesday, July 25.
Sources in Mairi where he reside told our correspondent that Dr. Miletus was confirmed killed.
‘Yes, he is dead, his relatives are already in the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for his corpse’, his former student and neighbor told YERWA EXPRESS NEWS.
A technical staff in the Geology Department of the university who did not give permission to publish his name also confirmed the report.
‘This is what I was told’, he said.
However, neither his family, employer nor any relevant body has released a statement regarding his death as at the time of filing this report.
Army Director of Public Relations, SK Usman’s release earlier in the evening stated that, ‘So far, they have rescued all the NNPC staff and recovered the corpses of the Officer, 8 soldiers and a civilian have who have been evacuated to 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital.’
Mohammed Alhaji Kundili, who is Dr. Miletus’ neighbor in Mairi, also confirmed the death on his Facebook wall.
This brings the casualty figure of deaths to 13, in addition to the 11 Civilian JTF members and a soldier killed.
Earlier it was reported that all the abducted persons were rescued until this development.
