PDP Leadership Tussle: No victor, No vanquished – Senator David Mark, former senate president
I hope, with declaration of Ahmed Makarfi faction of People’s Democratic Party as the authentic by the Supreme Court, the once “largest party in Africa” may begin to put its house in order.
I’ve been yearning for an opposition party with a real structure and sense of direction and PDP seemed unprepared for the challenge. There’s nothing as dangerous as a seeming one-party system, which explains my quest for a strong opposition to neutralise the arrogance of PDP’s replacement and keep them on their toes.
And, please, don’t waste your data to remind me of the party’s 16-year misrule when its major players are calling the shots in APC today, when even PDP chairmen are APC’s pillars, with one even serving as Minister in APC government.
Yes, if we live to witness the 2019 elections, I’m going to support PDP candidates I find credible, or whose antecedents impressed me, at both state and national levels.
2019 should be that year you head to the polling units along with your brains, your sentiments, bigotry and even conspiracy theories kept at home, to vote for the person you consider most prepared for the job, even if running under a platform you’re just seeing for the first time. The wise only get bitten once. -By Gimba Kakanda, a Blogger, writer, and political analyst.
MORE POWER TO THE PEOPLE: Today, democracy was salvaged at the Apex court as justice was served in favour of Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led executives of our great party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
We are now poised to bring quality development to our people & correct APC’s misrule. -By Abba Patrick Moro, former minister of interior
This jubilation over the Supreme Court judgment, is it love for the PDP or dislike for the APC/Buhari? –Ojo Maduekwe, blogger, journalist
PDP! Power to the People…victory for all…victory for Nigeria…congrats Senator Ahmed Makarfi, the National Chairman of the largest political party in Africa…Senator Ahmadu Sherif remains a chieftain of the party… -By Enyinnaya Appolos, SA Media to Abia State governor
Why do APC supporters appear to be rooting for Modi Sheriff’s victory more enthusiastically than PDP fans? Besides, why should the legal battle of “a dead party” worry you when you are not a supporter of the party? This is curious and funny. –Na-Allah Mohammed Zagga, Media Consultant at Atiku media organization
Next Election would be the election that I will head to the polling units along with my brains, my sentiments, bigotry and even conspiracy theories kept at home, to vote for the person I consider most prepared for the job, even if running under a platform am just seeing for the first time. The wise only get bitten once… –Haruna Kaninko
With the supreme court judgment today in favour of Senator Makarfi’s camp, the PDP have finally resurrected and gotten another chance to survive after their critics have concluded that they are dead, buried and finished. In fact the icing on the cake was baked earlier with that Osun State senatorial victory where a dancing brand new Senator Adeleke has been entertaining us on social media. Mr. Adeleke’s victory at the poll recently has been the talk of pundits with some using it as a pointer to start analyzing 2019.
This is another chance to rebrand as the APC have become the PDP with their failure to bring any change in anything anywhere in the country. I have heard a lot of APC and PDP members say the APC is Buhari and Buhari is the APC, remove Buhari and the APC becomes PDP.
I like it that Ali Modu Sheriff lost today because winning would have been killing the party and making the country a one party state.
When the PDP is now realizing and learning what opposition is all about now, the APC is learning the responsibilities of being a winning party and being in charge.
Let’s see how it goes from here.
