The Koko-Besse/Maiyama Progressive Youth Forum is calling on His Excellency, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, the minister of budget and economic planning, to listen to the will of the people and stay away from contesting the Kebbi Central Senatorial seat in 2027.
In a press statement issued by the group, signed by its interim chairman, Musa Bello Koko, the group advises Mr. Bagudu to as an elder statesman, unite members as regards the crisis in the party. The group says Mr. Bagudu should jettison personal ambition for the interest of Kebbi State.
“The crisis tearing our party and state apart today is the lack of opportunity for other notable and younger candidates to contest.
“Senator Badugu has achieved all that is achievable in politics, at least at the level of Kebbi State. However, there is a saying that one should know when to leave the stage when the ovation is loudest.
“We, the people of Koko-Besse/Maiyama — one of the strongest constituencies in Kebbi Central — stand united in our plee to appease Senator Bagudu. We hope the minister will hear us loud and clear, and we hope he will choose legacy for posterity instead of personal ambition, ” the group says.
