Terrorist Logic and Nigerian Government Naivety, By Mubarak Bala

Within the very few weeks of a Member of Parliament purchasing firearms to arm families against the bandits and slaveraiders that for a decade plus have ravaged and raped them, the terrorists panicked. The government could have used the moment to disarm them rather than entertain them, but no, they’re emasculated.

They know they are a minority with an edge, a talon and a canine, against millions, and that the only power they exert are these rifles and terro machines. So they restrategized. Instead of allowing the government to arm the swarm of civilians, as against the scanty armed forces spread across the vast of the region, they sued for peace.

They decided to come out brazen, befriend their prey, cajole them, release a few of their families, quote some religious texts and appear conciliatory. Perhaps their sponsors and patrons in other parts of society, in the Clergy and in the Government made them facade up this stunt.

Sadly, the naive local & regional Governments are buying it. They are now sighing relief that the war has come to an end. I am an optimist, but I understand nature’s laws of biological superiority, if nature doesn’t favor you with an armor or wings or talons or fangs, you’re perpetually going to remain on the platter of the other favored, unless you evolve other ways to survive, or acquire same fangs and talons to keep your family and communities safe.

Already, on side of the society had superiority of firepower, there is no going back to level playing fields, the armed forces are outnumbered, outmonoevred and outspent by budget with the wars on terror and bandits, and states are not yet able to have a professional state police to complement such efforts, so what are you left with as options? The victim communities to match bullet with bullet with every matauder, and fight their own battles, or die defending their children, families, farms, cattle and communities. Nature and Gods and Prayers do not favor the weak, only the fittest survives.

By the way, Nnamdi Kanu and others charged with terrorism should be apologized to since it’s a free for all country.
