The Cross Riverian man who absconded to Nigeria from England after alledgedly defrauding people of over N50 million with the promise of giving them jobs with CoS has been arrested.

Slyvester Imbuo Adie was arrested in a hotel in Calabar after police tracked him down using his mobile phone. NEWISSUES had earlier reported how he left his wife in England to Nigeria to marry a second wife. Mr. Aide denies having a wife, but it was clear he lived with a woman that he told everyone was his wife in the UK. They had lived together since they were in the University of Sussex since 2023 until recently when he went into hiding.

Slyvester Imbuo Adie earlier told police that one journalist demanded N1 million from him. Since I am the one who reported the story online, I contacted Slyvester Imbuo Adie. He claimed the person who contacted him was a blogger called Oliver, and that this Oliver fellow demanded he sends money. He claimed the Oliver fellow wanted to send him his account number, but he refused.

The police IPO in Calabar in charge of the case told the victims of fraud in a conference phone conversation that he is negotiating with Mr. Slyvester Imbuo Adie to drop N5 million, the police would seize his passport, and would ask him to bring a surety who would sign that if he runs away, the surety would pay the money. He is supposed to pay more money, at least N30 million by the end of October.

From reliable information available to NEWISSUES, the EFCC in Calabar wants to take up the case, but the police IPO is interested because of the cash that accompanies such cases. If Mr. Slyvester Imbuo Adie is able to drop N5 million, the police would release him on bail.
