Mr. Mubarak Bala, Nigerian popular atheist, has confirmed that Emir of Kano, Sunusi Lamido Sunusi was among the crowd of fanatics who beheaded an Igbo man resident of Kano, Gideon AKaluka. Mr. AKaluka was killed in December of 1994.
Accused of desecrating the Quran without concrete evidence, mob of fanatics rushed to attack AKaluka. He rushed to the police station. The police kept him in custody but only for a while. Some Muslim group stormed the police station and attacked cart off with Gideon AKaluka. He was beaten and beheaded. They put his severed head on a spear and paraded through the city of Kano.
Over the years the name of Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sunusi has come up as one of the people who organised the killing of Gideon AKaluka.
Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has on different platforms accused the emir of being part of the crowd that killed AKaluka. The Emir has never addressed the issue.
