Vice President Shettima’s survival as Tinubu’s second in command as preparation for 2027 election and handover of power is fast approaching has become the subject of discussion recently.

As main opposition party now, ADC, are quietly preparing to take on Tinubu, many are wondering if Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket would fly this time in a Muslim that has become bitter and disenchanted with his government. Insecurity, poverty, hunger, and nonchalance of the government has affected the poor in the north the most. Apart from terror attacks, local crimes has quadrupled. Muslim-Muslim ticket may not be the centre of Tinubu’s campaign this time, and getting rid of Shettima would not really be a deal.

Words on the streets is that Rev. Matthew Kukah is among the list of possible replacement for Tinubu. With his position over Christian Genocide and recent politics of silence, openly supporting government position, it seem Kukah is up to something. Another person is Yakubu Dogara, former speaker of the House of Representatives, and Boss Mustapha, former Secretary General of the Federation under Buhari.

However, Tinubu risk annoying hardcore Islamists who would quickly start screaming to Muslims that they were used in the first term, even though in the end most of these groups would vote for the Atiku’s camp. If you recall, Arewa overwhelmingly voted for Atiku. Most of the APC governors were only able to manipulate these votes through INEC. Shettima couldn’t give Buhari any state, not even Yobe, mass rigging and disenfranchising of many people, especially the Christian community gave him Borno.
