President Bola Ahmed Tinubu congratulated the Super Eagles of Nigeria after they defeated Egypt in a penalty shootout at the African Cuo of Nations in third place match in Morocco.

Tinubu wrote this on his Facebook page:

I congratulate our gallant Super Eagles @NGSuperEagles on their hard-earned bronze medal at AFCON 2025.

Despite the heartbreak of the semi-final loss to Morocco, our Super Eagles showed resilience, overcame Egypt, and made us proud.

This bronze medal surely feels good like gold.

Congratulations, Nigeria!

~ Bola Ahmed Tinubu

In a tense free match, both Egypt and Nigeria were rather casual, unlike the Semi-final match where both wanted to be in the final. Even though Nigerians expected gold, and were disappointed that Nigeria did not make it to the final, most Nigerians are satisfied with the Super Eagles performance at the tournament.
